Making a Difference
The Freeplay Energy Foundation’s goal is to provide dependable, self-sufficient and environmentally friendly technologies where it matters most. A farmer, listening to a Freeplay Energy radio, learns of an approaching tornado and is able to protect his livestock and warn his neighbors. In a refugee camp a crying baby is soothed to sleep with music coming from a Freeplay Energy radio. A midwife in a small African village helps to safely deliver a baby born at night using a Freeplay Energy Lantern. Elsewhere, children continue studying after nightfall using Freeplay Energy lanterns.
These are just some examples of how the Freeplay Foundation is making a difference in people’s lives.
Access to Electricity
In the western world we tend to take electricity for granted. It’s only when there’s a power failure that we appreciate how our lives are influenced and made better with easy access to electricity. Worldwide there are more than two billion people with no access to electricity. That’s one out of every three people on the planet.
Energy and poverty are directly linked. Areas with the least access to energy have the greatest levels of poverty. Without electricity you have restricted access to information sources and it’s virtually impossible to continue working at night. There’s always batteries but they’re expensive.
Sustainable Energy Products
FreePlay Energy develops products that work with either solar or simple hand cranking. By providing light and information access, FreePlay Energy products make a significant difference in the lives of many people in impoverished areas of our planet.
When disaster strikes, FreePlay Energy products are brought into the stricken area to help people get information and give them light while the damaged infrastructure is repaired.
GoGreen InStages carries a number of alternate energy products from FreePlay Energy including the solar powered and hand crank radio as well as hand crank lanterns. These products require no disposable batteries to operate and will give you light and radio whenever you need it. Because these products are powered through sustainable energy sources they’re environmentally friendly, great for camping, power failure situations or anywhere else where convenient power is not readily available.
Profits from the sale of these products help to support the FreePlay Foundation. The organization works on projects in Indonesia, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Niger, Nigeria, Rwanda, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia. Details on these projects are too extensive to cover here.
